Father first.
Father of four—three girls and a boy—Devin Kassbaum’s story starts on job sites with his grandfather (Gerald Pflepsen): swinging a hammer, reading a tape, and learning that craftsmanship is equal parts precision, patience, and pride. Those early lessons shaped a career built on real work—people first, tools second, and processes that actually help.
From first tasks to executive decisions.
For more than twenty years, Devin has been grinding—working with people, teams, and organizations of all sizes and operating styles. Fast-forward through the shop, the site, and the office: he advanced from baseline field tasks—clean, measure, cut, assemble, document—to coordinating crews and trades, then to planning work, sequencing schedules, and managing risk. Over time, responsibilities expanded from hands-on production to project controls, budgets, and cross-functional leadership. Along the way he built broad, practical experience across the construction spectrum—plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, drywall, finish carpentry, flooring, concrete, framing, design, furniture, fixtures, light manufacturing, produce operations, and machine design—and insurance restoration, working with adjusters and navigating carrier documentation. That breadth created a rare fluency: speaking the language of specialists, translating constraints into plans, and making executive-level decisions that respect realities on the ground while moving the whole system forward.
Multi-discipline leadership.
Devin’s responsibilities have spanned multiple business disciplines, often at the same time Including:
Safety and compliance—non-negotiable.
Threaded through it all is an extensive safety lens. Devin’s work has required consistent attention to OSHA awareness, job-site practices, and state, federal, and local regulatory compliance. He has collaborated, as appropriate, with Ventura County DTSC, CHP, Caltrans, Ventura County Sheriff’s departments, FMCSA, NAFA, and the Pavement Network to keep operations lawful and safe, and he’s accustomed to the audits, logs, and documentation that come with regulated work.
Interdisciplinary collaboration.
Complex projects demand many minds. Devin has partnered with structural, environmental, and electrical engineers, inspectors, and municipal officials—bridging technical detail with pragmatic delivery. Training with DGA Detective Academy and former FBI personnel sharpened observation, documentation, and investigative interviewing—skills that translate into better root-cause analysis and risk management in business settings.
Credentials of the road and beyond.
Exposure includes time holding a CDL and operating commercial big rigs, informing his understanding of logistics, compliance, and equipment realities. He also logged hands-on opportunities in restaurants, mortgage sales, vending repair, multiple automotive shops, golf course operations, and even car-audio sales from the trunk—a reminder that drive beats perfect conditions.
Coaching grounded in ethics.
On the people side, Devin’s approach to leadership development and team coaching is informed by Dale Carnegie principles—clear communication, respect, and influence through relationship—and aligned with the ICF Code of Ethics—confidentiality, professionalism, and client-centered practice. His execution craft was further shaped under the guidance of an experienced EOS Fractional Integrator, learning to operate as an Integrator: establishing clear L10 cadences, aligning rocks and scorecards, and driving cross-functional follow-through. The outcome is practical habit-building and steady accountability—not motivational noise.
The through-line: the 3 I’s.
Across industries and roles, Devin applies the same fundamentals:
Where this lands today.
Through Kassbaum Innovations, Devin helps small businesses, entrepreneurs, and teams turn chaos into clockwork. He blends shop-floor pragmatism with leadership coaching, regulatory awareness with operational discipline, and broad business exposure with a bias for simple systems. The aim is consistent: equip people, align process, and grow profit—without adding chaos.
